Magnetic Island Nature Care Association (MINCA) acknowledges the Wulgurukaba people as the Traditional Owners of Yunbenun, Magnetic Island
and pays respect to their past, present and emerging Elders. on World Heritage Magnetic Island, Cranky Curlew Productions produce no/low-budget, narrative, satire & documentary, short films as well as graphics, installations, performance art & photography.

Cranky Curlew Productions acknowledge the Wulgurukaba people as the traditional custodians of Yunbenun. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters and pay our respects to elders past and present. Always was, always will be.

Free to watch is, ’Gone with the Wind’, our award-winning animated short of pedestal fans departing their lives of service and creeping redundancy to seek out the wind - the wild authentic atmospheric phenomenon they could only ever weakly mimic.

Our World Heritage Island was made in 2023 for The Great Barrier Reef Foundation to build a greater understanding of the island’s World Heritage values and encourage residents and visitors to adopt practices that protect and enhance the natural and aesthetic values of Yunbenun, Magnetic Island.

Junk Island

It doesn't need much explaining really but it may be of interest to know that it was shot over 20 minutes as the sun set and the tide rose at West Point Magnetic Island. In the far background is the city of Townsville where the Port Authority want to dredge the channel deeper and longer to make it more accessible for coal carriers and other very big ships to head through the Great Barrier Reef with yet more carbon, exported for other countries to pump into the atmosphere.
